A San Gabriel Unified parent. Your voice on the board.
I’m Gina Chi. Four years ago, I joined the San Gabriel Unified School Board to be a parent’s voice for our kids and families. I’m asking for your vote so I can keep doing that.
A parent in SGUSD right now. My kids are in 3rd and 7th grade, so I see our schools the way families do.
Experience on the board. Board member since 2022, now Board Vice President.
Results you can check. Measure SG, Vocera safety badges, a stronger expanded learning program, and dual immersion parents’ feedback brought to the district. See my record →
Focused on what’s next. Student achievement, school safety, and student mental health. See my priorities →
A bridge to more families. I came here from Taiwan and speak English and Mandarin, so more parents can talk with me in the language they’re comfortable with.
“I am a devoted parent and community voice, committed to advocating for all students, families, and our schools.”
Helped bring Measure SG to voters: $178 million to upgrade classrooms, career-training spaces, and classroom technology across our district. Voters approved it in 2024, and a bond oversight committee makes sure the money goes only to the projects voters approved.
Supported Vocera safety badges for our teachers and staff. Staff wear them and talk hands-free. In an emergency, they can press a button to send an alert or call for help, and reach police quickly, following strict safety rules.
Advocated for a stronger expanded learning program, including sports, so more students have a safe place to learn and grow after the bell rings. Kids get help with homework, try new activities, and stay active. Working parents get peace of mind. It’s about supporting the whole child.
Listened to dual immersion parents and brought their feedback to the district to help the programs keep improving. It’s how I approach every issue: start by listening to the families it affects.
Because I’m an SGUSD parent right now. With two kids in district schools, I see the issues families care about most — learning, safety, and student well-being — up close, every day.
I’ve also built a record on the board that you can check: helping bring Measure SG to voters, supporting Vocera safety badges, advocating for a stronger expanded learning program, and bringing dual immersion parents’ feedback to the district. I’m asking you to keep a current SGUSD parent’s voice on the board.
Since joining the board in 2022 (I’m now Board Vice President), I have:
Measure SG: Helped bring Measure SG to voters — $178 million to upgrade classrooms, career-training spaces, and classroom technology across the district. Voters approved it in 2024, and a bond oversight committee makes sure the money goes only to voter-approved projects.
Vocera safety badges: Supported Vocera safety badges for our teachers and staff, so they can call for help hands-free and reach police quickly in an emergency.
Expanded learning program: Advocated for a stronger expanded learning program, including sports, so more students have a safe place to learn and grow after school.
Dual immersion programs: Listened to dual immersion parents and brought their feedback to the district to help the programs keep improving.
Student achievement: Real progress for every student, year after year — not only for some groups. That means clear, regular updates on reading and math; strong dual immersion and expanded learning; and Measure SG dollars going to classrooms, career-training spaces, and classroom technology.
School safety: The everyday basics, done every day — front gates closed during school hours, Vocera badges working and staff ready to use them, and bullying taken seriously, with every report followed up and families hearing back.
Mental health: More counseling support, and easier to reach — expanding counseling for students and making sure they know what help is available and how to reach it.
How does Gina Chi approach school safety and student well-being?
季亮如何看待校園安全與學生身心健康?
I believe students learn best when they feel safe and supported. My approach:
Campus safety: The everyday basics, done every day, like front gates staying closed during school hours and Vocera safety badges so staff can call for help quickly.
Bullying: Take every report seriously, follow up, and get back to families.
Mental health: More counseling support, and making sure students know what help is available and how to reach it.
Listening first: Hear from parents, students, and staff, and bring their ideas to the district.
How many candidates can I vote for in the SGUSD school board election?
聖蓋博聯合學區委員選舉可以投幾位候選人?
Up to three. Five candidates are running for three at-large seats on the San Gabriel Unified School District Governing Board, and every voter in the district can choose up to three. I’m asking for one of your three votes.
The board doesn’t run classrooms — teachers and principals do. The board sets the district budget, hires and oversees the superintendent, sets district policy, and decides how bond money like Measure SG is spent.
